Building confidence and momentum in saving habits, with Goals for Rocket Money
Rocket Money is the leading personal finance management app. From 2021 to 2023, I lead the design of a 0-1 feature that helps people save money, using tools like incorporated custom savings methods, rewards, and milestones. Users can save for anything they want. It's automated, free, and makes smart transfers based on your spending habits. Think of it like finding money under your sofa cushions every couple days, or buying yourself coffee a few times a week. It adds up!
An organizational win for retention, and increased user savings.
Rocket Money was formerly known as Truebill, before it was acquired by Rocket for $1.25B. An outcome of this acquisition was a massive change in strategic priorities for the organization. Goals was the first major feature launched after the acquisition, where we focused on user retention rather than total monthly user growth. We found we were able to increase month 2 billing by almost 15% amongst Goal users! Goals currently has around $150 million in assets under management, which is a sizable revenue driver for Rocket. Most importantly, we've made saving for your next vacation or your next fender bender easier than ever.
